Low Friction Pneumatic Positioning

Using innovative algorithms, Enfield is able to easily achieve low friction pneumatic positioning with Airpot’s Airpel series cylinders using the high accuracy SICK sensors as feedback. The low friction cylinder inherently has a low breakaway force and can leak across the piston. Generally, the solution would be to use lower air pressure with fast timed valves to position; however, the force necessary to position dynamic loads was difficult and a desired motion profile was often compromised. Enfield’s closed loop positioning system shown here is using the C1 controller and the LS-V05s proportional valve. The SICK sensor allows for accurate readings of the Airpel cylinder’s internal magnet to make closing the loop a breeze.
