Enfield’s proportional valve controllers with integrated bi-directional valve drivers are designed to optimize the performance of the LS and Enfinity series valves for pressure, speed, temperature, force, flow and position control applications. To perform these tasks, each Enfield controller takes a continuously variable setpoint from a PLC or microcontroller, compares that to a feedback device output (such as a flow-meter or position transducer) and generates a continuous error signal. This signal is then internally processed by a P, PI, PD, PID or another nested loop control structure. The control loop then generates a current output which allows the LS and Enfintiy bi-directional valves to be continuously modulated, removing any error between the command and feedback signals.
